I think I may take it to a gunsmith though for some reassurance or a possible hydraulic dent repair and approval before I shoot it. Extremely small though, and almost unnoticeable. It's about 4 inches down from the muzzle and you can see internally. Also, I noticed a very small ding in the barrel this morning that I did not see last night when I purchased it.

But again, from researching, this gun was made by Ithaca so from what I've read it almost certainly shoots 2 3/4. All the research that I have done almost positively assures that it takes 2 3/4 inch shells, BUT nowhere on the gun does it specify. I wish it could talk, I bet it has some stories.

I got a side by side Lefever Nitro Special in 12 gauge with 28 inch barrels and it's made in 1938/39 (I got the year of production from looking up the serial number.) It's in good shape, a lot of character, and a gun that I won’t be afraid to use in the brush. Because last night, I said out with the new in with the old.

I was leaning towards a Mossberg Silver Reserve but for now the Mossberg is out.
